Mental Health and Addictions wellness Centre

 

The Mental Health and Addictions Wellness Centre delivers mental health and addiction services to individuals five years of age and older living in Markham, Thornhill, Stouffville and north Durham Communities.

Services are delivered by health and social care professionals including; nurse practitioner, social worker, harm reduction worker, peer support workers and counsellors.

Services include:

  • Pharmacological services within the Mental Health and Addiction Wellness Centre will be provided by a Nurse Practitioner from Addiction Services Central Ontario.

    If you are 16+ years old, struggling with drug use and would like to discuss medication options to help reduce or stop your use, please feel free to book an appointment. Any drug can be discussed including alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants and cannabis.

  • CAYRCC community Connections will be providing information about safe drug use, overdose prevention, naloxone, safer drug use equipment as well as safer sex supplies and HIV test kits if needed.

  • 360°kids Employment Programs are designed to empower and encourage participants to overcome employment barriers that could potentially hinder their motivation and ability to be successful at work. Our programs are unique in that we cultivate an empathic, holistic approach in preparation for employment as youth move to a state of safety and stability. We support youth in preparation for employment and in developing skills necessary to maintain new job opportunities. Employment barriers include, but not limited to, discrimination, experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, LGBTTQ, police record, Aboriginal, recent immigrant and living with mental health challenges.

  • Through case management support, clients receive assistance to navigate community services that meet their mental health and/or substance use needs. Clients can also receive support completing referrals, if needed. Services that a client can receive support navigating include: Mental Health Intensive Case Management, Supportive Housing, Financial Assistance, Addictions Services, Trauma Counselling, Therapeutic Groups and many more.

  • The Social Worker can provide short term supportive counselling - teaching helpful strategies to cope with a range of issues: stress, separation, adjustment, grief, mental health issues, family challenges, addiction and substance use issues.

  • We offer service navigation and single session counselling services for children, youth and caregivers of those ages 0-18 with mental health concerns. Families are able to self-refer for services and no diagnosis is required. There is no fee for our services.

  • Peer support provides services by, and for people who have had similar lived experiences. Your peer supporter will have personal experience in the areas of mental health and/or addiction challenges and has gained the education and training to give back to their community.

  • Due to COVID-19, appointments are required for all services with select services available virtually at this time.
